Hi Patrick,
Thanks a lot for the feedback. You have made some really good suggestions for improvement of MLN and I will try to include many of them in the next release of the program. The next release is probably about six months away though but any project files you make now will of course work in any future versions of MLN.
I will try to address a few of your points/suggestions now.

>> I'm not sure if it's going to help me learning Japanese, but I'll see.
I think one of the most useful parts of MLN is to open your project, then hide either the text or translations and use 'Reveal Mode' to test if you can remember the hidden parts.

>> it's difficult to chose a character, because there are very/too small to see!
That's a good point, especially with the diacritical marks etc.
I will add some sort magnifying glass in the next version.

>> about recording. I noticed we can record ourself, it's nice. But, will be in the future possible to insert wav/ogg/mp3
I want to do this in the next version but in the meantime, you can record audio into MLN from some sound player on your PC as shown here (maybe you already know this).

How to record audio in MLN from some other program on your PC that produces audio.

* Right-click on the volume icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.
* Open the volume control.
* Choose Options/Properties.
* In the 'Mixer device' drop down box, select an 'Audio input' device.
* Select 'adjust volume for' 'Recording'.
* Open the 'New Entry' or 'Edit Entry' dialog in MLN and get ready to click the record button.
* Prepare the audio clip, or other program that produces the audio you want to record.
* Click the 'record' button in MLN and start the audio you want to record.
* Click the 'stop' button in MLN when you have captured the audio you want.

>> How about updating an already uploaded project? What would be the steps to do it?
Basically, you would just have to download the project file from the MLN site, open it in MLN, make your changes, then just re-upload it.
There will then be two projects on the site with the same, so you can just change the name or note of the new/updated project (before you re-upload it) to explain to users that this is an update of an older project.
Or, if you were the original creator of the project, just let me know that you have uploaded a new/updated version of a project and that you would like me to delete the old project, and I will do it.

>> What about the size of the font?
I will have a think about this. I am trying to keep the MLN program as simple as possible but maybe there is a way of doing this and still keeping things simple.

Ok, that's all for now.
Cheers,
Jim

OK, after a few hours of using the prg and the uploading possibility:
- no able to use wav/ogg/mp3 files is not that bad : it "forces" to improve my speaking/recording ability Cool
- How about updating an already uploaded project? What would be the steps to do it?
- What about the size of the font?

Hi,

first of all, thank you for this program.
I'm not sure if it's going to help me learning Japanese, but I'll see.

So, one of my workbook is 'Beginning Japanese' from Eleanor Harz Jorden.
And, I discovered, in MLN, that we can use 'Combining Diacritical Marks' which seems to be close enough to the superscript symbols used in the book.
The problem is : it's difficult to chose a character, because there are very/too small to see!
Could you improve/correct that, please?

Another thing : about recording. I noticed we can record ourself, it's nice.
But, will be in the future possible to insert wav/ogg/mp3 file (like we can do in the SRS Anki software?)

That's all for now

Thanks again for your program.
See you!

Patrick.

Hi,
Welcome to the 'My Language Notebook' forum.
For the moment, I'll keep everything in just one forum category, so please feel free to post the following here:

* Questions/Comments/Suggestions about the MLN program, MLN Player or the website.
* Questions/Comments about MLN projects.
* Any bugs found in the software.
* Any other language related topic you want to talk about.

Also, we are trying to get as many project files in as many different languages as possible onto the site. So, if you make one, please upload it.

All the best,
Jim

yardbard,
I have just uploaded a Japanese project for you. It is very basic; I don't know what your level is.
I hope you like it!

No you don't need to buy a license. You only need if you are using MLN in a business, but just for your own personal use, you don't need one.
By the way, sending mln files to people in emails is a good way to share projects but could you upload them to the site as well so that other people can download them. We are trying to get a big library of projects together on this site. Cheers, Jim
